News and Updates

I am starting a position as a CNRS research scientist with the ISIR lab at Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris.

============================================

Two of my submissions are accepted to IEEE VIS 2016: Embedded Data Representations with Wesley Willett and Pierre Dragicevic and Investigating the Use of a Dynamic Physical Bar Chart for Data Exploration and Presentation with Faisal Taher, Jonathan Woodruff, John Hardy, Kasper Hornbæk, and Jason Alexander.

============================================

Together with Pauline Gourlet, Samuel Huron, Uta Hinrichs, and Trevor Hogan, I organize a workshop on designing physical data representations at the DRS'16 conference in Brighton, UK. Find more info and how to sign up under dataphys.org/workshops/drs16.

============================================

I am now assistant professor at the University of Copenhagen.

============================================

We organize a workshop on physical data representations at the TEI'16 conference in Eindhoven. More info under dataphys.org/workshops/tei16.

============================================

Our report on the unofficial CHI reviewing survey (see below) has been accepted to alt.CHI.

============================================

We are running an unofficial CHI reviewing survey. If you submitted to CHI and just received your reviews, please consider participating! Our goal is to identify where authors and reviewers commonly disagree as well as to collect particularly good or bad excerpts from reviews. If you would like to (anonymously) share your thoughts on the matter with the community -- this is your opportunity. We will analyze the data that we collect and also make it publicly available (if you choose to opt in for public sharing of your responses). You can find the survey here. It will remain open until January 1, 2016.

Thanks for considering!

============================================

I presented A Psychophysical Investigation of Size as a Physical Variable at the IEEE VIS conference in Chicago.

============================================

I presented Opportunities and Challenges for Data Physicalization during CHI in Seoul and Faisal Taher presented Exploring Interactions with Physically Dynamic Bar Charts.

============================================

We organized a workshop on Exploring the Challenges of Making Data Physical at CHI'15. Check out the link for more info and the great submissions to this workshop.

============================================

The Data Physicalization Wiki goes online. This page provides a forum to the community to collect and exchange information related to data physicalization.

============================================

My PhD thesis was awarded an honorable mention for the prix de thèse Gilles Kahn.

============================================

I organized a workshop on the future of visualization at IEEE VIS in Paris together with Petra Isenberg, Jason Dykes, Sheelagh Carpendale, and Dan Keefe.

============================================

A new and improved version of the list of physical visualizations went live.

============================================

I'm now a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen.

Research Interests

My research interests lie in the intersection where computers meet the physical world. I am interested in exploring the wide space of beyond-desktop interfaces and specifically their application within the field of visualization.
